Miguel Torres logra desentrañar la compleja figura de Juan Roa Sierra, señalado como el asesino de Jorge Eliécer Gaitán. A sus 26 años, Roa Sierra vive con su madre en un barrio popular de Bogotá, mientras enfrenta una profunda depresión, el desempleo y el abandono de su esposa, madre de su única hija. Atrapado en la desesperanza, busca orientación en Johan Umland Gert, un astrólogo alemán que se convierte en su guía espiritual y le aconseja acudir a Gaitán en busca de trabajo. Sin embargo, al ser ignorado por el líder político, su frustración se transforma en resentimiento y odio.
La obra retrata tanto el contexto social como la atormentada existencia de Roa Sierra, a partir de una rigurosa investigación histórica que se entrelaza con una narrativa imaginativa, donde el equilibrio entre los hechos y las posibilidades sostiene el relato. Más que una reconstrucción de eventos, es la historia de la vida y la muerte de un hombre sin rumbo, perdido en un país al borde del caos. Con notable intensidad y complejidad, la obra invita al público a sumergirse en la mente del protagonista y a explorar, desde su propia incertidumbre, lo que se ha denominado “el crimen del siglo”.
